Bulletin for the Week of Nov. 23, 2009

1. Remember, there is no fencing this week. Have a great Thanksgiving!

If you are currently renting equipment and want to continue to rent for the winter term, please let me know, as I will start registering new students soon and will not reserve equipment for you if you don't ask for it.

Speaking of winter, now is a great time to spread the word to all your friends and invite them to join the VFA. This club grows mainly by word of mouth and I rely on all of you to bring new people to the club each term. For each friend that joins, you get $5 off your own class fees for that term. If you know anyone who might be interested in fencing, have them contact me in the next couple of weeks, as I will be out of town Dec. 11-28.

Attention Charlotte fencers: Beginning Dec. 1, CCS basketball programs have the gym until 7:30, so our practice time moves back to 7:30-10 (we'll try to wrap up around 9:30 on Tuesdays, but Thursdays will probably go the full time). This will continue until February vacation, when we can move back to the 7 p.m. start time. I realize this end time is very late and don't like it any better than you do, but in exchange for free use of a great gym, we have to work around school and town rec activities.

2. Next Champlain Cup meet: the Upper Valley Holiday Open and Youth, Sharon VT, Sun. Dec. 6. Register now at www.askfred.net/Events/whoIsComing.php?tournament_id=9738
Events for kids (Y12 foil for those born 1997 or later, Y14 epee for those born 1995 or later) and for everyone else (open foil and epee).

3. Free to a good home: my older iMac computer (Power PC G3, 500 mhz, 256 MB memory, keyboard and mouse included, with Apple OS 10.2 and some other software installed, snazzy blue color). Internal CD drive is broken, but for $15 I'll sell you an external CD RW firewire drive which works fine and can even be used to boot the computer (you'll need to buy a firewire cable for it). Other than CD drive, computer works fine and would be a good computer for basic student or home use. Your chance to own the computer that was the source of this Bulletin for years!
